RudraGram Collection

Of all the prayers in the Vedic tradition, the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is the one Indian families reach for when someone they love is unwell, or afraid, or far from home.

The Mahamrityunjay Yantra Locket from RudraGram carries that prayer as a yantra — the sacred form of Lord Shiva as Mrityunjaya, the three-eyed one. It is worn or kept not to gain anything, but for the courage to get through something.

Please read this first

This is where we have to be plain with you, because this yantra is sold dishonestly more often than any other.

It is not a medicine. It does not treat, cure or prevent any illness, and it will not change a medical outcome. If you or someone in your family is unwell, the most important thing you can do is see a doctor and follow the treatment properly. Please do not delay or stop any treatment because of this or any other spiritual item.

What this yantra has always offered families is something different, and real in its own way — a prayer to hold on to, a practice to keep when there is nothing else to do, and the comfort of a tradition that has sat with people through frightening times for thousands of years.

Buy it in that spirit. If anyone tells you it will save a life, they are lying to you at the worst possible moment.

The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra

"Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat"

The mantra comes from the Rig Veda and is addressed to Lord Shiva as Tryambaka, the three-eyed. Its image is a simple one from a farmer's field — as a ripe cucumber falls away from its vine of its own accord, may we be released from fear and bondage, and not from immortality.

It is recited for ayushya — long life and wellbeing — and for courage in the face of what frightens us. The yantra is that same prayer held in geometric form.

Who It Is For

  • Families keeping a prayer through a difficult health phase
  • Anyone who wants a daily practice for wellbeing and peace of mind
  • Elders, and families who keep a daily jaap at home
  • People in physically demanding or risky work
  • Those who travel frequently or live away from family
  • Devotees of Lord Shiva who observe Sawan and Maha Shivratri
  • Anyone going through a period of fear or anxiety

How to Wear or Place It

  1. Choose an auspicious dayMonday, the day of Lord Shiva, is the day to begin. Maha Shivratri and the Mondays of Sawan are considered the most auspicious of all.
  2. Cleanse the locket with clean water in the morning, wipe it dry, and place it before your deity or altar for a short while.
  3. Energize it with mantra — chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra 108 times before wearing or placing it. Every RudraGram yantra is already energized through prana pratishtha by our Pandit Ji, so this is an added personal step.
  4. Wear it — around the neck on a white or red thread, or on a chain, resting near the heart.
  5. Or keep it at the altar — many families keep it at the pooja sthan and perform the Monday abhishek with it in place, so the practice belongs to the household rather than one person. Both are equally traditional.

Chanting & Practice

Mahamrityunjaya Mantra:

"Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat"

Shiva Mantra: "Om Namah Shivaya"

Chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra 108 times each morning is the practice most closely associated with this yantra. Offering water or raw milk during Shiva abhishek on Mondays is the other. Families sometimes undertake a formal anushthan of 1.25 lakh repetitions, often together — and this, rather than any object, is what the tradition actually asks of you.

The mantra costs nothing and can be kept whether or not you own the yantra.

Care & Maintenance

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use.
  • Remove it before swimming, a long bath, or applying perfume or deodorant, so the metal does not tarnish.
  • Avoid harsh cleaning agents on the engraved surface — the fineness of the yantra lines matters, and abrasive polishing wears them down.
  • Treat it as a sacred object rather than as jewellery.
  • Store in a clean cloth pouch or at your pooja sthan when not being worn.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mahamrityunjay Yantra Locket? It is a wearable locket carrying the Mahamrityunjaya Yantra, the sacred form associated with Lord Shiva as Mrityunjaya. It is traditionally worn or kept as a prayer for wellbeing, courage and freedom from fear.

Can this cure an illness or save a life? No. It is not a medical product, it treats nothing, and it changes no medical outcome. Please see a doctor, follow the treatment, and do not delay care because of any spiritual item. Anyone who tells you otherwise is exploiting a frightening moment.

Someone in my family is seriously unwell. Should I buy this? Only if a prayer would bring your family comfort — that is what it is for, and that is not a small thing. But please keep the medical side running fully in parallel, and do not let anyone persuade you that a purchase changes anything clinical. The mantra itself is free; you can begin with that today.

Can I wear it during treatment? Yes, many people do, as a matter of faith and daily practice. It sits beside medical care, never in place of it. If you have any concern, ask your doctor.

Can I gift it to someone who is unwell? Yes, and it is often given in that spirit. Please present it as a blessing rather than as a remedy for their condition, and make sure their treatment continues as advised.

What does the mantra actually mean? It is addressed to Lord Shiva as the three-eyed one, and uses the image of a ripe cucumber falling naturally from its vine — a prayer to be released from fear and bondage, and not from immortality. It comes from the Rig Veda.

Do I need to do the full 1.25 lakh jaap? No. That is a formal anushthan undertaken by those who wish to. Chanting 108 times daily is the common household practice, and there is no requirement beyond what you are able to keep.

Can I wear it along with a 5 Mukhi Rudraksha? Yes. The 5 Mukhi is the bead of Kalagni Rudra, a form of Shiva, and is commonly worn alongside this yantra.

Does the yantra need to be energized? Yes. A yantra is traditionally considered inert until prana pratishtha is performed. Every yantra we supply is energized through proper mantra rituals by our Pandit Ji before dispatch.

On which day should I start? Monday, the day of Lord Shiva. Maha Shivratri and the Mondays of Sawan are the most auspicious of all.

Can women wear this locket? Yes. There are no restrictions of gender or age.

Are there any rules to follow? Keep it clean, remove it before bathing where convenient, and treat it as a sacred object rather than an ornament.

What is your shipping and return policy for this product? We offer free shipping across India (4–5 business days); international shipping is calculated at checkout. As this is an energized sacred item, returns are accepted only in case of damage, defect, or wrong item, within 7 days — see our Refund Policy and Shipping Policy for full details.
