Kaal Sarp Dosh is described as the whole chart caught between two shadow planets. The remedies for it come from two traditions — the bead and the form.

The Kaal Sarp Yantra Locket from RudraGram carries the yantra, invoking Lord Shiva, who wears the serpent around his own neck and is the deity every Kaal Sarp remedy ultimately turns to.

What is Kaal Sarp Dosh?

Kaal Sarp Dosh is said to form when all seven planets in a birth chart fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis — the chart held between the head and tail of the celestial serpent.

Twelve types are described, named after different serpents — Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkotak, Shankhachur, Ghatak, Vishdhar and Sheshnag — each said to affect a different area of life.

It is traditionally associated with:

  • Effort that repeatedly fails to convert into results
  • Sudden obstacles just as things begin to settle
  • Instability in career, income or living situation
  • Disturbed sleep and unsettling dreams
  • Delays in marriage, property or long-planned decisions

Please read this before buying

Two things are worth knowing, because this is the dosha people are most often frightened into spending on.

First, Kaal Sarp Dosh does not appear in the classical Vedic texts such as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra. It is a later concept, widely used in modern practice, and astrologers differ on how much weight to give it. Many hold that a strong chart overrides it entirely.

Second, having it does not mean your life will be difficult. A great many people with this placement live perfectly successful lives.

Please have your chart read properly, and be cautious of anyone who describes this in alarming terms or pushes you towards expensive remedies. That is a sales tactic, not astrology.

Yantra or Rudraksha — which should you choose?

Both traditions offer a remedy for this dosha, and they work differently.

Kaal Sarp Dosh Nivaran Kavach Works through the beads — the 8 Mukhi pacifies Rahu through Lord Ganesha, the 9 Mukhi pacifies Ketu through Maa Durga. Worn on the body.
Kaal Sarp Yantra Locket (this product) Works through the sacred form, energized by mantra and invoking Lord Shiva. Worn, or kept at the altar.

Neither replaces the other. Many households keep the yantra at the pooja sthan and wear the kavach — which is the traditional arrangement rather than an upsell.

Why People Wear or Keep It

  • 🐍 Seek relief from Kaal Sarp Dosh and Rahu-Ketu disturbance
  • 🕉️ Invoke Lord Shiva, who wears the serpent and is the deity of this remedy
  • 🚧 Clear repeated obstacles, delays and sudden setbacks
  • 😴 Support restful sleep and freedom from unsettling dreams
  • 🧭 Bring steadiness to an unstable career or income
  • 🏠 Kept at the pooja room for the whole household
  • 🪔 Traditionally begun on Nag Panchami

Who It Is For

  • Anyone whose chart has been read as having Kaal Sarp Dosh
  • People going through a Rahu or Ketu Mahadasha or Antardasha
  • Those facing repeated obstacles with no clear reason behind them
  • Anyone whose career, income or living situation keeps destabilising
  • People experiencing disturbed sleep and unsettling dreams
  • Families who keep a Kaal Sarp remedy at the pooja sthan

How to Wear or Place It

  1. Choose an auspicious day — Nag Panchami is the most auspicious day of all for a Kaal Sarp remedy. Otherwise Monday, the day of Lord Shiva, or Saturday, kept for Rahu remedies.
  2. Cleanse the locket with clean water in the morning, wipe it dry, and place it before your deity or altar for a short while.
  3. Energize it with mantra — chant "Om Namah Shivaya" 108 times before wearing or placing it. Every RudraGram yantra is already energized through prana pratishtha by our Pandit Ji, so this is an added personal step.
  4. Wear it — around the neck on a black or red thread, or on a chain, resting near the heart.
  5. Or place it at the pooja sthan — many families keep it at the altar and perform the Monday abhishek with it in place, rather than wearing it. Both practices are followed.

Chanting & Practice

Shiva Mantra: "Om Namah Shivaya"

Mahamrityunjaya Mantra:

"Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat"

Offering water or raw milk during Shiva abhishek on Mondays is the practice most closely associated with Kaal Sarp remedies, since Lord Shiva wears the serpent. Observing Nag Panchami is the other. Families who are able also undertake the Kaal Sarp puja at Trimbakeshwar or Ujjain — though that is a pilgrimage, not a requirement, and no seller should tell you otherwise.

Care & Maintenance

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use.
  • Remove it before swimming, a long bath, or applying perfume or deodorant, so the metal does not tarnish.
  • Avoid harsh cleaning agents on the engraved surface — the fineness of the yantra lines matters, and abrasive polishing wears them down.
  • Treat it as a sacred object rather than as jewellery.
  • Store in a clean cloth pouch or at your pooja sthan when not being worn.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Kaal Sarp Yantra Locket? It is a wearable locket carrying the Kaal Sarp Dosh Nivaran Yantra, the traditional yantra for the Kaal Sarp combination. It invokes Lord Shiva and is worn or kept for relief from obstacles, delays and instability.

Should I buy the yantra or the Rudraksha kavach? They work through different traditions — the yantra through sacred form, the kavach through the beads of Rahu and Ketu. Either is a complete remedy on its own. Many households keep the yantra at the altar and wear the kavach, but there is no need to buy both.

How do I know if I have Kaal Sarp Dosh? It is identified from your birth chart, by checking whether all seven planets fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis. Please have your chart read by a knowledgeable astrologer rather than relying on a free online calculator.

Is Kaal Sarp Dosh mentioned in classical texts? No. It does not appear in the classical Vedic texts such as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra — it is a later concept, widely used in modern practice. Astrologers differ on how much weight to give it. We mention this so your decision is an informed one rather than an anxious one.

Does having this dosha mean my life will be difficult? No. Many people with this placement live perfectly successful lives. Please be cautious of anyone who describes it in frightening terms or pressures you into expensive remedies.

Do I need to go to Trimbakeshwar or Ujjain? No. The Kaal Sarp puja at those temples is a traditional pilgrimage undertaken by those who wish to and are able to. It is not a requirement, and nobody should tell you your remedy is incomplete without it.

Is there a partial Kaal Sarp Dosh? Yes, many astrologers describe partial or anshik Kaal Sarp Yog where one planet sits outside the axis. The same remedies are traditionally used.

Does the yantra need to be energized? Yes. A yantra is traditionally considered inert until prana pratishtha is performed. Every yantra we supply is energized through proper mantra rituals by our Pandit Ji before dispatch.

On which day should I start? Nag Panchami is the most auspicious. Otherwise Monday, the day of Lord Shiva, or Saturday.

Should I wear it or keep it at the altar? Both are followed. Many families keep it at the pooja sthan and perform the Monday abhishek with it in place; others wear it daily.

Can women wear this locket? Yes. There are no restrictions of gender or age.

Are there any rules to follow? Keep it clean, remove it before bathing where convenient, and treat it as a sacred object rather than an ornament.

What is your shipping and return policy for this product? We offer free shipping across India (4–5 business days); international shipping is calculated at checkout. As this is an energized sacred item, returns are accepted only in case of damage, defect, or wrong item, within 7 days — see our Refund Policy and Shipping Policy for full details.
