When an Indian household faces something it is afraid of, it does not ask for cleverness or wealth. It asks Maa Durga for courage.

The Durga Bisa Yantra Locket from RudraGram carries her yantra — one of the most widely kept protective yantras in the tradition, worn or placed by those who want to feel safe rather than to gain something.

(Also written as Durga Beesa Yantra, Durga Visa Yantra or Durga Bisha Yantra — all refer to the same form.)

What is the Durga Bisa Yantra?

A yantra is a sacred geometric form — a precise grid of numbers and lines that tradition holds to be a deity's energy expressed as pattern rather than as image.

The name Bisa comes from bees, twenty. The yantra is built as a numerical square in which every line adds up to twenty, and that constant is what gives the yantra its name and, in tradition, its power. It is associated with Maa Durga — the goddess who removes fear itself.

She is worshipped in her nine forms, the Navdurga, through the nine nights of Navratri. Her yantra is kept for what she is invoked for: protection, courage, and the strength to stand when something is pressing down on you.

Why People Wear or Keep It

  • 🔱 Seek the protection and courage of Maa Durga
  • 🧿 Guard against nazar, jealousy, negative energy and ill will
  • 🛡️ Support those who feel targeted, watched or under pressure
  • 💪 Build courage to face a difficult situation rather than avoid it
  • 🏠 Kept at the home entrance or pooja room for the whole household
  • 👶 Traditionally kept in homes with young children
  • 🪔 Traditionally begun during Navratri, the nine nights of the goddess

A note on how this should be used

Some sellers market protective yantras as a way to defeat or harm an enemy. That is not what this is, and not how we will sell it.

A Durga yantra is kept for your own protection and courage — never to act against another person. If someone is causing you real harm, the practical steps matter first: speak to people you trust, keep records, and involve the authorities where it is warranted. Keep the yantra alongside that, as tradition intends.

Who It Is For

  • Anyone who feels targeted by jealousy, hostility or ill will
  • People going through a phase that has left them anxious or fearful
  • Women running households or businesses on their own strength
  • Families with young children, as a traditional nazar remedy
  • Households wanting a protective presence at the entrance or pooja sthan
  • Devotees of Maa Durga who keep Navratri vrats
  • Anyone rebuilding confidence after a setback

How to Wear or Place It

  1. Choose an auspicious day — Navratri is the most auspicious period of all to begin. Outside Navratri, Tuesday is the day most commonly recommended, and Saturday is also suitable.
  2. Cleanse the locket with clean water in the morning, wipe it dry, and place it before your deity or altar for a short while.
  3. Energize it with mantra — chant the Durga beej mantra 108 times before wearing or placing it. Every RudraGram yantra is already energized through prana pratishtha by our Pandit Ji, so this is an added personal step.
  4. Wear it — around the neck on a red thread or chain, resting near the heart. Red is Maa Durga's colour and is traditionally preferred.
  5. Or place it — many families keep it at the main entrance, in the pooja room, or at the shop counter, so its protection covers the whole space rather than one person.

Chanting & Practice

Durga Beej Mantra: "Om Dum Durgayei Namah" Navdurga Mantra: "Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaye Vichche"

Reciting the Durga Chalisa on Tuesdays, and the Durga Saptashati during Navratri, are the practices most closely associated with this yantra. Many families keep the locket at the altar through the nine nights of Navratri and perform the annual puja with it in place, lighting an akhand jyot alongside.

Care & Maintenance

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use.
  • Remove it before swimming, a long bath, or applying perfume or deodorant, so the metal does not tarnish.
  • Avoid harsh cleaning agents on the engraved surface — the fineness of the yantra lines matters, and abrasive polishing wears them down.
  • If kept at the entrance, place it where it stays dry and is not exposed to rain all day.
  • Treat it as a sacred object rather than as jewellery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Durga Bisa Yantra Locket? It is a wearable locket carrying the Durga Bisa Yantra, the protective yantra of Maa Durga. It is traditionally worn or kept for protection, courage and freedom from fear and negative energy.

Why is it called "Bisa"? Bisa comes from bees, twenty. The yantra is constructed as a numerical square in which every line adds up to twenty, and that constant gives the yantra its name.

Is it the same as the Durga Beesa or Durga Visa Yantra? Yes. Bisa, Beesa, Visa and Bisha are all spellings of the same yantra.

Can this be used against an enemy? No, and we will not sell it that way. It is kept for your own protection and courage, not to act against another person. If someone is genuinely causing you harm, please take the practical steps too — speak to people you trust, keep records, and involve the authorities where it is warranted.

Can I wear it along with a 9 Mukhi Rudraksha? Yes, and the two belong together. The 9 Mukhi is Maa Durga's Rudraksha and this is her yantra, so they invoke the same energy from two traditions. Several of our kavachs are built around the 9 Mukhi bead.

Should I wear it or keep it at home? Both are widely followed. Many families keep it at the main entrance or pooja room so the protection covers the household; others wear it daily. Choose whichever fits your practice.

Does the yantra need to be energized? Yes. A yantra is traditionally considered inert until prana pratishtha is performed. Every yantra we supply is energized through proper mantra rituals by our Pandit Ji before dispatch.

Is Navratri the best time to start? Navratri, dedicated to the nine forms of Maa Durga, is considered the most auspicious period. Outside Navratri, Tuesday is the day most commonly recommended.

Can children wear it? It is traditionally kept for children as a nazar remedy, but for young children families usually keep it in the child's room or at the pooja sthan rather than around the neck.

Can men wear this locket? Yes. There are no restrictions of gender or age.

Is it suitable as a gift? Yes, it is commonly given during Navratri, to someone moving into a new home, and to anyone going through a difficult or unsettling phase.

Are there any rules to follow? Keep it clean, remove it before bathing where convenient, and treat it as a sacred object rather than an ornament.

What is your shipping and return policy for this product? We offer free shipping across India (4–5 business days); international shipping is calculated at checkout.
