Where to Place It

• Best: the north of the home, office or shop — Kuber's own direction, and the reason Vastu keeps lockers there.
• Also traditional: the north-east, the most auspicious corner, or the pooja room.
• Most practical: near or above the locker, safe, almirah or cash box, ideally positioned so the locker opens towards the north.
• Height: at eye level or slightly above. Never on the floor.

How to Install It

1. Choose an auspicious day — Dhanteras is the most auspicious of all, being the day both Lakshmi and Kuber are worshipped together. Otherwise Friday, or any day of Diwali.
2. Clean the place thoroughly. A clean space is the first step of Lakshmi puja, not a formality.
3. Invoke Lord Ganesha first — chant "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah".
4. Chant the Lakshmi mantra, then the Kuber mantra, 108 times each or as many as you are able. The order matters: she gives, he keeps.
5. Offer a flower, light a diya and incense, and place the yantra in position.
6. Light a diya before it on Fridays and through Diwali.

Performing Lakshmi-Kuber puja at Dhanteras is the practice most closely associated with this yantra, and the one most Indian households already keep. Lighting a diya at the entrance at dusk, and reciting the Shri Suktam on Fridays, are the others.
