What is Guru Chandal Dosh?

Guru Chandal Dosh, also called Guru-Rahu Yog, is said to form when Rahu sits with or closely aspects Jupiter in a birth chart.

Jupiter is the guru — wisdom, dharma, sound judgement and the guidance of teachers and elders. Rahu is illusion, shortcuts and appetite. When the shadow planet sits on the teacher, tradition holds that guidance itself becomes unreliable.

Why Jupiter and Rahu Together

The dosha is created by two planets, so treating one leaves the other working against you.

Guru (5 Mukhi, Kalagni Rudra) is the planet being obscured. The 5 Mukhi is the most widely worn Rudraksha of all, traditionally associated with wisdom, calmness, balance and the ability to think a decision through rather than react to it.

How to Wear the Guru Chandal Dosh Kavach

1. Choose an auspicious day — Thursday, the day of Guru, is most commonly recommended. Saturday, traditionally kept for Rahu remedies, is also suitable, and Guru Purnima is considered especially auspicious.
2. Cleanse the kavach with clean water or unboiled milk in the morning, wipe it dry, and place it before your deity or altar for a short while.
