Pyrite is the only stone in our range that sparks when you strike it against steel. Its name comes from the Greek pyr, fire, and its brassy metallic shine fooled prospectors for centuries into thinking they had found gold — which is how it earned the name fool's gold.

This Raw Pyrite Bracelet from RudraGram uses rough, unpolished pyrite rather than smooth round beads. Each piece keeps its natural metallic faces and broken edges, so the bracelet looks like something mined rather than something manufactured. That is the whole appeal — and it also changes how you need to look after it, which we have covered properly below.

An honest note before you buy

This stone is sold with more exaggeration than almost any other, so we would rather be straight with you.

Pyrite is not a Vedic gemstone. It is not one of the nine navratna, and it is not a recognised upratna for any graha. If a seller tells you pyrite is the stone of a particular planet, that is a modern invention, not tradition.

It belongs to the crystal and mineral tradition — a genuine practice, widely followed, but a different one from Vedic gemology. There it is associated with confidence, willpower and the manipura (solar plexus) centre, and is commonly worn with an intention around prosperity and drive.

And it is not a money magnet. Wearing it will not attract wealth on its own, and anyone promising that is selling you a story. What people do find genuinely useful is carrying a physical object that holds an intention — something on the wrist that reminds you, several times a day, of what you are working towards. That is real, and it is enough. It does not need dressing up.

Why People Wear the Pyrite Bracelet

  • 🔶 Worn for confidence, willpower and the drive to act
  • 🎯 A physical reminder of a goal you are actively working on
  • 💼 Popular with business owners, founders and salespeople as a prosperity intent
  • 🛡️ Associated in the crystal tradition with protection and resilience
  • 🧘 Used in grounding practice and solar plexus work
  • ⚡ Worn to counter hesitation, self-doubt and procrastination
  • ✨ Kept simply for its striking raw metallic look

About Raw Pyrite

Mineral Iron sulphide (FeS₂)
Also called Fool's Gold; Sona Makkhi in Indian trade
Colour Brassy, metallic gold
Hardness 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale — but brittle
Form here Raw, unpolished natural pieces
Tradition Crystal and mineral practice, not Vedic gemology
Associated with Confidence, willpower, focus, prosperity intent

Why raw rather than polished: polishing removes the natural crystal faces that make pyrite recognisable. A raw bracelet keeps them, which is why it has a rugged, uneven look. It also means the edges are not rounded off — see the care section before you wear it under a sleeve.

About the Bracelet

Pyrite is a natural mineral and each piece is broken and selected by hand, so size, shape, shine and the number of pieces vary from bracelet to bracelet. No two are identical, and the one you receive will look slightly different from the photographs. Some pieces will be brighter and more metallic, others duller and more textured — both are natural pyrite.

Who It Is For

  • Business owners, founders and self-employed people
  • Anyone in sales, negotiation or any role that needs daily nerve
  • People working on a specific goal who want a physical reminder of it
  • Those who struggle with hesitation, procrastination or self-doubt
  • Anyone drawn to the crystal tradition rather than to planetary remedies
  • People who prefer a rugged, masculine-looking piece over polished beads

Who should give it a miss: anyone who needs a bracelet they can wear and forget. Raw pyrite needs a little care, snags on knitwear, and tarnishes if you sweat in it. If you want something you can wear through the gym and a bath without thinking, the Natural Rock Crystal Bracelet is a far better fit.

Finding Your Size

  1. Wrap a measuring tape or strip of paper snugly around your wrist.
  2. Add about 1.5–2 cm for a comfortable fit.
  3. If you are between sizes, choose the looser one. Raw pyrite pieces are uneven, so a tight fit presses edges into the skin — and an over-stretched elastic cord fails much sooner.

For a gift, 18–19 cm suits most adult men and 17–18 cm most adult women.

How to Wear It

  • Wrist: Either is fine. Crystal practice commonly suggests the left for receiving energy and the right for projecting it — many people choose the right for a confidence and drive intention. There is no binding rule.
  • Day to begin: Many choose a Friday or the start of a new work week, or simply the day they begin working on the goal it represents.
  • Before first wear: Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and keep it in your pooja space or on your desk for a short while. Do not rinse pyrite in water — see the care section.
  • Slide it over your hand. Do not roll it along your wrist; rolling is what breaks elastic cords, and raw pieces catch on skin.

Care & Maintenance — please read this one

Pyrite needs more care than any other bracelet we sell, because of what it is made of: iron sulphide. Iron plus moisture plus air means it can tarnish, and over a long time it can even crumble at the surface. This is a known property of the mineral, not a defect in the bracelet.

  • Keep it dry. Remove it before bathing, swimming, washing up or a workout. Sweat is the single biggest cause of pyrite dulling.
  • Never soak it in water and do not clean it with water, soap or any liquid cleaner. A soft dry cloth is all it needs.
  • Avoid perfume, lotion, sanitiser and chemicals — both for the stone and for the elastic cord.
  • Expect it to dull slightly over time. A natural darkening of the metallic shine is normal ageing for pyrite. A gentle rub with a dry cloth restores much of it.
  • It can mark skin or light clothing. Tarnish may leave a faint dark smudge. Harmless, washes off, but worth knowing before you wear it with a white shirt.
  • Store it dry, in a cloth pouch away from humidity — not in a bathroom, and not sealed in a plastic bag with moisture inside.
  • Raw edges snag. Be careful with woollens, knitwear and fine fabric.
  • Elastic cord stretches with time; restringing after a year or two is ordinary maintenance, not a defect.

Cleansing (crystal practice): pyrite should be cleansed dry — incense or dhoop smoke, or a few hours on a bed of dry rice. Do not use the water or salt-water methods commonly suggested for other crystals; salt water in particular will damage it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Raw Pyrite bracelet? It is a bracelet made of natural, unpolished pyrite — the brassy metallic mineral known as fool's gold. In the crystal tradition it is worn for confidence, willpower and prosperity intent.

Will it bring me money? No, and please do not buy it for that. No stone attracts money. What it genuinely does is sit on your wrist as a visible reminder of a goal you are working towards, several times a day. Many people find that useful. Anyone promising more than that is not being honest with you.

Is pyrite a Vedic gemstone? Which planet is it for? It is not a Vedic gemstone and it is not the stone of any planet. It is not among the navratna, nor a recognised upratna. Pyrite belongs to the crystal and mineral tradition, which is a different practice. If an astrologer has prescribed a specific gemstone for a specific planet, buy that stone instead.

Which rashi can wear pyrite? Since it is not a planetary stone, there is no rashi restriction. Anyone can wear it.

Why does my bracelet look less shiny than the photo? Two reasons, both normal. Raw pyrite varies naturally — some pieces are bright and metallic, others duller and more textured. And pyrite tarnishes gradually with air and moisture, so it darkens slightly with wear. A rub with a dry cloth brings much of the shine back.

Can I wear it in the shower or at the gym? Please do not. Pyrite is iron sulphide, and sweat and water make it tarnish and, over long exposure, degrade at the surface. Take it off before bathing, swimming and workouts. This is the one bracelet where that really matters.

How do I clean it? A soft dry cloth only. No water, no soap, no liquid cleaner, and never salt water. For cleansing in the crystal sense, use incense smoke or a few hours on dry rice.

Is it safe to wear against the skin? Yes, for normal wear. Pyrite is a stable mineral in bracelet form. Tarnish can occasionally leave a faint dark smudge on skin or light clothing — it is harmless and washes off. If you have very sensitive skin, wear it loose and remove it if you notice irritation.

Why are the edges rough? Because the stones are raw rather than polished. Polishing would remove the natural crystal faces that make pyrite worth having. The trade-off is that raw edges can snag knitwear and press into the skin if the bracelet is too tight, so order the looser size.

Can I wear it with my Rudraksha or kavach? Yes, there is no conflict. Keep them on different wrists if you can, so the raw pyrite edges do not rub against Rudraksha beads or a gemstone.

Which wrist should I wear it on? Either. Crystal practice often suggests the right wrist for projecting energy, which suits a confidence and drive intention, but nothing binds you to it.

Can women wear it? Yes. It simply has a heavier, more rugged look than polished bead bracelets, which some prefer and some do not.

Will the elastic break? Elastic cord stretches and eventually wears on every elastic bracelet. Sliding it over your hand instead of rolling it, and keeping it away from perfume and lotion, extends its life considerably. Restringing after a year or two is normal.

Will it look exactly like the photo? No — and it is not meant to. Every piece of raw pyrite is a different shape, size and shade, so each bracelet is genuinely one of a kind.

Is this suitable as a gift? Yes, particularly for someone starting a business, taking a new role, or working towards a specific goal. Pass on the care instructions with it, since that part matters for this stone.
