Rudraksha & Gemstone Certificate Guide: How to Read and Verify
Quick answer: A genuine Rudraksha or gemstone certificate should name the issuing lab, carry a unique report number, show a photo of the exact item, and state its identity (mukhi count, or the mineral name), whether it is natural, its weight and size, and, for gemstones, any treatment. You can verify most certificates by entering the report number, or scanning the QR code, on the issuing lab's own website.
Every RudraGram Rudraksha and gemstone comes with a certificate. This page explains what that certificate should tell you, how to check it, and how to spot a fake certificate from any seller.
What a Rudraksha certificate should show
| Field | What to check |
|---|---|
| Report number | A unique number, ideally with a QR code, that you can look up. |
| Photo | A clear photo of your bead, not a generic image. Compare the mukhi lines with the bead you received. |
| Mukhi (faces) | The number of natural lines, for example "5 Mukhi". |
| Natural / not natural | Should confirm the bead is a natural Rudraksha (Elaeocarpus seed), not carved, joined or artificially altered. |
| Origin | Nepal, Indonesia (Java) or India, where stated. |
| Size and weight | In mm and grams. Measure your bead to cross-check. |
| Test method | Some labs use X-ray to check internal seed chambers against the number of mukhis. This is the strongest test for higher mukhis. |
What a gemstone certificate should show
| Field | What to check |
|---|---|
| Identification | The mineral name, for example "Natural Corundum – Yellow Sapphire" or "Natural Beryl – Emerald". |
| Natural / synthetic | Must say natural if you are buying for astrological use. Lab-grown (synthetic) stones are not used as remedies. |
| Weight | In carats. Use our Carat to Ratti Converter if your astrologer gave you a weight in Ratti. |
| Measurements, shape, colour | Should match the stone in your hand. |
| Refractive index and specific gravity | Technical values that identify the mineral. Each gemstone has a known range. |
| Treatment | Heat treatment is common and accepted. Glass filling, diffusion or dyeing should be clearly disclosed. |
How to verify a certificate
- Find the lab name and report number on the certificate.
- Go to the lab's official website (search for the lab name yourself rather than following a link printed on the card) or scan the QR code.
- Enter the report number. The online record should show the same photo, weight and identification as your printed certificate.
- Match it to your item. Compare the photo, the weight and the mukhi lines or stone shape.
If you have any trouble verifying a RudraGram certificate, send us a photo of the certificate and your order number on WhatsApp (+91-8193014001) or at info@rudragram.com, and our team will help you.
Red flags of a fake certificate
- No report number, or a report number that can't be looked up anywhere.
- A generic photo, or the same photo printed on many certificates.
- Vague wording such as "energised" or "premium quality" in place of a mineral name or mukhi count.
- A lab name you cannot find anywhere online.
- Weight on the certificate that does not match the item when weighed.
- For gemstones, no mention of natural vs synthetic.
How RudraGram checks products before dispatch
- Rudraksha: each bead is checked for natural formation and the correct mukhi count before it is listed.
- Gemstones: each stone is checked for material identification and natural origin before sale.
- Kavach, yantras and malas: checked for material and craftsmanship.
- Energisation: products are purified and energised by Pandit Ji in Mathura–Vrindavan before dispatch. This is a traditional spiritual practice and does not change the physical properties of the item.

Certificates don't replace your own checks
A certificate is one part of buying with confidence. Also check the item itself. For Rudraksha, see How to Identify Original Rudraksha. For gemstone pricing, see our Gemstone Price List. Prices far below the market are one of the most reliable warning signs.
Frequently asked questions
Does every RudraGram product come with a certificate?
Every Rudraksha and gemstone ships with a certificate. Certification details for each product are shown on its product page.
Does a certificate guarantee spiritual results?
No. A certificate confirms the physical identity of the item, such as mukhi count, natural origin and weight. Spiritual benefits are traditional beliefs and depend on personal practice.
Is a certified gemstone always untreated?
No. Certified stones can be treated. Read the treatment section of the certificate.
What is an X-ray test for Rudraksha?
An X-ray shows the seed chambers inside the bead. In a natural bead, the number of chambers generally matches the number of mukhis. This helps detect carved or joined beads, especially for higher and rarer mukhis.
