हिंदू धर्म में तुलसी कंठी माला का बहुत महत्व है। इसे एक पवित्र पौधे के रूप में पूजा जाता है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार तुलसी में देवी लक्ष्मी का वास होता है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि जब देवी लक्ष्मी ने राधा रानी के रूप में धरती पर जन्म लिया तो तुलसी का नाम वृंदा था, जो राक्षस जालंधर की पत्नी थीं, जिसका वध भगवान विष्णु ने किया था। इस पर सती वृंदा ने दुखी और क्रोधित होकर भगवान विष्णु को शालिग्राम यानी शीला के रूप में धरती पर रहने का श्राप दे दिया। इस पर मां लक्ष्मी ने वृंदा से अपने पति को श्राप से मुक्त करने का अनुरोध किया। उनका अनुरोध सुनकर देवी वृंदा ने सती होने से पहले भगवान विष्णु को प्रतिदिन शाम को अपने साथ रहने की शर्त पर मुक्त कर दिया। देवी वृंदा के सती होते ही उनकी राख से एक पौधा उत्पन्न हुआ, जिसे ब्रह्मा जी ने तुलसी नाम दिया।

यही पौधा सती वृंदा का पूजनीय रूप बन गया। भगवान विष्णु ने देवी तुलसी को वरदान भी दिया कि वह सुख-समृद्धि प्रदान करने वाली मां कहलाएंगी और साल में एक बार शालिग्राम और तुलसी का विवाह भी होगा। इसलिए भगवान विष्णु को तुलसी बहुत प्रिय है। आपने तुलसी कंठी माला के महत्व के बारे में तो खूब सुना होगा। लेकिन इसकी लकड़ी का भी कम महत्व नहीं है। मान्यता है कि तुलसी की लकड़ी से बनी माला पहनने से सभी तरह के संकट दूर हो जाते हैं। यह धार्मिक के साथ-साथ स्वास्थ्य के लिए भी बहुत फायदेमंद है। तुलसी की माला पहनने से शुक्र और बुध ग्रह मजबूत होते हैं। साथ ही मन शांत रहता है। जानिए वास्तु के अनुसार तुलसी की माला पहनते समय किन बातों का ध्यान रखना चाहिए।

तुलसी कंठी माला पहनने के नियम:

आमतौर पर तुलसी दो प्रकार की होती है, रामा और श्यामा तुलसी।
जिस व्यक्ति से तुलसी की माला धारण कराई जाती है, उसे सात्विक भोजन ग्रहण नहीं करना चाहिए, अर्थात उस व्यक्ति को मांस-मदिरा से दूर रहना चाहिए तथा लहसुन-प्याज का सेवन करने से बचना चाहिए।
यदि आपने तुलसी की माला धारण की है तो उसे किसी भी हालत में उतारना नहीं चाहिए।
तुलसी की माला पहनने से पहले उसे गंगाजल से अच्छी तरह धो लें और उसके बाद सूखने पर ही उसे धारण करना चाहिए।
ऐसा माना जाता है कि तुलसी की माला हाथ से पहनने से बहुत लाभ होता है।
जो लोग तुलसी की माला पहनते हैं उन्हें प्रतिदिन भगवान विष्णु के मंत्रों का जाप करना चाहिए।
यदि आप तुलसी कंठी माला पहन रहे हैं तो आपको रुद्राक्ष बिल्कुल भी नहीं पहनना चाहिए। इससे अशुभ परिणाम मिलते हैं।
यदि किसी कारणवश आप गले में तुलसी की माला धारण नहीं कर पाते हैं तो इसे अपने दाहिने हाथ में धारण कर सकते हैं।
लेकिन ध्यान रखें कि नित्य क्रिया करने से पहले इसे उतार दें। इसके बाद स्नान करके पुनः गंगाजल से धोकर धारण करें।
